MARIA AND I
Maria lives with her mother in the Canary Islands, a three-hour flight from Barcelona, where I live. Sometimes Maria and I spend a week together in some resort in the south of Grand Canary Island that’s frequented by Germans and other gringos.. This is the story of one of those trips. We left Barcelona and took advantage of the last days of summer in one of those hotels. During these trips Maria and I talk, laugh, make lists of people’s names, and eat till we’re stuffed.
Maria is 12 years old, with a contagious smile and a unique sense of humor. She is autistic.This book has winned the National Comic Award from this year.
