Steven Salerno's illustrations appear in magazines, print & web advertising, publishing, product packaging, retail & restaurant graphics, and children's picture books. A graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City (now named: Parsons/The New School for Design) Steven's illustration work has been recognized for its excellence by Print, Communication Arts, Society of Illustrators, The Art Directors Club, and the Society for Newspaper Design.
Thus far in his long illustration career he's created thousands of illustrations for nearly 600 various clients in advertising, editorial, corporate and publishing. Since 2000 Steven has also illustrated 25 picture books for children. His beautifully illustrated picture book, Brothers at Bat (written by Audrey Vernick) was named a NY Times Book Review Notable Picture Book for 2012. In 2015 Steven had two new illustrated picture books released: The Fantastic Ferris Wheel -with incredibly period illustrations by Steven -it's the true story of the inventor of the Ferris Wheel in 1893, George Ferris... written by Betsy Harvey Kraft/published by Christy Ottaviano Books. And also in 2015, Wild Child -written & illustrated by Steven Salerno, published by Abrams Books for Young Readers. It's the story of the wildest animal of them all. In 2016 Steven has two more illustrated picture books released: The Kid from Diamond Street, -with 1920's era illustrations by Steven -written Audrey Vernick/published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. And also in 2016 Puppy Princess, written by Sue Fliess/published by Penguin Random House. In 2017 his next illustrated picture book will be released, Goldenlocks and the Three Pirates -written by April Jones Prince/published by Farrar Straus & Giroux. He is currently working on the illustrations for a new picture book for publisher Penguin/Random House. The artist lives and works in NYC.
